  1. A term that many people in the industry have heard of but don't know exactly what it is or how it works: Macronutrients. Simply put, macronutrients are the components of all food we eat, with the three major macronutrients "macros for short" being proteins, carbs and fats. What is all the noise about these big three? Many people use calorie counting as a way to see what they're eating and try to restrict these calories. But while doing so they are often not watching what they are eating, are so focused on just being below a specific number of calories, and are not seeing the results they want. 'Fad' diets are also popular and while some people do see results from them, they are for the majority of people very unattainable for a long period of time. Who wants to eat pure chicken rice and veggies for the rest of their lives? It just is not attainable and will not keep you mentally healthy. With keeping track of macronutrients, and I don't even mean to an extreme count, just decently rough numbers, you can see results and see them while you are still enjoying your meals and even sometimes being able to eat whatever you like! So let me break down for you how to start roughly estimating your macro intake: A STEP BY STEP GUIDE IS LISTED IN THE SLIDESHOW ABOVE 👆 EXAMPLE 1: MIKE: 200 pounds, active male, goal is to keep lean muscle and lose excess body fat. EXAMPLE 1 CAN BE SEEN ABOVE 👆👆 KEY POINT: you can adjust the carbs and fats a little depending on what you enjoy eating more of. If you usually eat more CHO, add 30-40 grams of carbs and recalculate to subtract the appropriate amount of fat. You don't have to count to the gram on these methods. We don't believe in that. It's not attainable, it's not fun, and in the end it's gonna drive you mad. Get ranges of 10-15 grams for each macro, hit roughly those ranges, and see how your body responds!
